Bridge Night. 6.27.01

❇ NOTES ❇

The fourth official bridge night* took place on Wednesday night June 27, 2001 at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Mrs. S’ room between 7:45 and 9:30PM.

Mrs. S ordered tea sandwiches and smoked salmon quiche which Miss F picked up, but only after having failed at the first attempt because Mrs. S didn’t call her until an hour AFTER they were to be picked up to tell her that they only took cash or check, and was served on Miss F’s silver.

Tea was served in Ms. D’s wedding china. Mrs. S had chamomile. Ms. D had decaffeinated green tea. Miss F had English breakfast.

A note to Miss R: It helps to be in the same state—even the same side of the country—if you plan on coming to bridge night.

Briefly reviewed was Miss F’s notes on the play of the game. As requested, a copy is included.

Topics covered:

Spermicide, smoking, appropriate pink and orange winter-wedding bridesmaids’ dresses, basil, Mr. Basil, and the basil ovulation monitor, and one thing that Ms. D has not allowed to be written in the minutes or to leave Mrs. S hospital room.

Ms. D warned Miss F about Mrs. S’ inevitable campaign to get Miss F and Mr. R married now that she has successfully united and “fertilized” Mr. and Ms. D.

Schedules:

  • Ms. D: Monday perhaps. The rest of the week RegionV regionals.
  • Miss R: Who fucking knows.
  • Miss F: Monday good. Vacationing in Alaska July 13-21.
  • Mrs. S: Monday good.

*No bridge was actually played on bridge night, but Ms. D did bring her notebook!

Bridge NIght. 6.14.01

❇ NOTES ❇

The second official bridge night took place on Monday night June 4, 2001 at Mrs. S’ house between 7:30PM and 9:45PM.

Dinner was take-out from Typhoon! provided by Miss F.

The only drink served was a mix of the dregs of the grapefruit juice bottle and the dregs of the vodka decanter consumed by Miss F in a questionably clean low-ball glass also used by Mr. S to clean paint brushes in.

Lessons 1-3 were briefly visited concentrating on practicing bidding to your partner’s hand.

Minutes:

It was suggested and therefore determined, by Mrs. S, that Miss F be the secretary and that Mrs. S be the president. Ms. D added that she should be the CEO and that Miss R have the honorary title of janitor.

Brought up several times was the question, “Ginger; where is that ho?”

Ms. D pointed out that Mrs. S has had the opportunity for over a year now to read the book that Mrs. F gave her on bridge and that she still doesn’t know shit. Miss F then pointed out the name of the book: Learn Bridge in a Weekend.

During a break in hands, Mr. S shared with the ladies Emma’s latest ultrasounds. The ladies cooed.

Questions were raised about why Mrs. S’ cat Frank was on the bed especially with his gas.

Ms. D requested that the bidding summary be blown-up and distributed. Miss F agreed to comply.

Schedules:
  • Ms. D: Thursday and perhaps Tuesday of next week are good.
  • Miss R: MIA
  • Miss F: awaiting work schedule.
  • Mrs. S: still not going anywhere.

Bridge Night. 5.14.01

❇ NOTES ❇

The first official bridge night took place on Monday night May 14, 2001 at Mrs. S’ house between 7:15PM and 9:45PM.

Lesson Two was briefly covered and answers to quizzes 1-3 were handed out.

Pepperoni pizza was delivered. And a “tiramisu” cake was served.

Alcohol was offered but refused by all.

Topics of discussion:

Ms. D requested that she be referred to as Ms. D instead of Mrs. D for at least a few more years.

It was broached whether or not to have bridge night once a week or once every other week. No decisions were made.

Miss F suggested making a list of other ladies who may be willing to sub. Mrs. S and Ms. D agreed and suggested “Libby” and “Anna.” Miss F added, “Monica” and “Stephanie.”

Questions were raised regarding bikini waxes and whether a Brazilian wax encompassed all pubic hair art or just the “landing strip.”

Ms. D lamented about not having a bathroom for the last two weeks due to renovation and how it has affected her sex life. Mrs. S offered little sympathy.

Concerns were made as to whether Mrs. S really needs to show her “movie star breasts” and stomach to the rest of the ladies so much.

Schedules:
  • Ms. D is off to a horse show and then to Mexico the week of the 21st.
  • Miss R will be shooting in LA the week of the 21st.
  • Miss F is out of town the 28th for Memorial Day.
  • Mrs. S is not going anywhere.
And a very Happy Birthday to Mrs. S!
